19 June 2026 – With just four months until Western Sydney International (WSI) Airport opens to passengers, CT Partners’ members have just had an extensive behind-the-scenes first look at the terminal and its infrastructure thanks to Singapore Airlines.
25 members from 13 CT Partners businesses were given exclusive access to the soon-to-open Terminal 1, hosted by Rosanna Piaggio, Manager Agency Sales, and Sarah Lathwell, Account Executive Agency Sales, from Singapore Airlines, which was the first international carrier to commit to WSI.
Feedback from CT Partners members who attended was overwhelmingly positive, with strong interest in both the commercial and customer opportunities the airport presents. For attendees, the visit delivered exactly what it was designed to – a first hand understanding of WSI’s advantages and the confidence to communicate them to clients.
Helen De Nuntiss, Manager Airline Business Development at WSI, led the comprehensive tour covering the full terminal experience, check-in technology, baggage automation, aerobridge, landside and airside areas and on to the tarmac itself.
WSI isn’t just a new airport. It’s a rethink of what an airport can be.
Designed as a smart airport from the ground up, it integrates technology at every touchpoint to create a genuinely seamless passenger experience. This includes faster baggage handling, reduced wait times, and a terminal that brings domestic and international travellers together through shared check-in and security screening before international passengers continue to immigration.
The scale is remarkable. At 1,780 hectares, roughly twice the footprint of Kingsford Smith, with a 3.7-kilometre runway capable of handling aircraft up to the A380, WSI has been built to grow with Greater Sydney. Opening capacity sits at 10 million passengers annually, with a long-term vision of 82 million, with a capacity to become the country’s largest airport. Three additional passenger terminals and a Business Precinct are planned in the years ahead.
WSI will operate without a curfew 24 hours a day, seven days a week, opening up departure options and providing real improvements in connection times to international destinations.
Singapore Airlines at WSI
Singapore Airlines will operate daily flights between Western Sydney and Singapore using Airbus A350-900 medium-haul aircraft configured with both Business and Economy cabins, with the inaugural service commencing 23 November 2026. The schedule sees a late-night departure taking full advantage of WSI’s curfew-free operations to connect into Singapore Changi Airport’s morning bank of international connections.
Quote attributed to Matt Masson, CEO, CT Partners:
“Western Sydney International Airport is going to be a genuine game-changer and the visit gave our members a clear picture of why. The curfew-free operations alone open up a new world of options for clients with better connection times, more flexibility, and a travel experience built around the passenger rather than operational constraints. We are grateful to Singapore Airlines for making this happen and for the value they consistently bring to our partnership.”
Quote attributed to Rosanna Piaggio, Manager Agency Sales, Singapore Airlines:
“Singapore Airlines was proud to be the first international carrier to commit to Western Sydney International Airport. This is a milestone moment for Australian aviation and we are genuinely excited about what it means for travellers from Sydney and even the wider Australian community. The flexibility of a curfew-free departure, and arrival time into Singapore Changi Airport, allows our customers to take full advantage of our entire Singapore Airlines network connecting to over 130 destinations across the globe.”
